Choose the right shoes for your weddingWalk down the aisle in style knowing you have selected the perfect wedding shoes for your big day. When choosing your bridal footwear, keep an eye on coordinating the overall look of your wedding ensemble with your dress. If your wedding is formal choose a formal style and if your wedding is casual select a more casual shoe.

Be sure the shoes complement your dress in style and color and always try the shoes on with your dress to decide if they are a good match. Be sure to determine where the dress hangs in relation to the shoes for tailoring considerations.

Make comfort a priority! Remember you will be standing and dancing for many hours in your shoes.

Formal

Elegance and opulence glimmer as does the candlelight of your formal wedding, a type of wedding held at a sophisticated venue or is religious or military in nature. Formal wedding dresses are generally long in length and the shoes that go with include classic pumps, peep toes, high heels, subtle platforms, kitten heels and low heels.  Select a heel height that looks good and feels comfortable. Embellishments for formal wedding shoes include lace, silk flowers and beads.

If you prefer not to wear heels, ballet flats are an attractive alternative.

Popular fabrics for formal wedding shoes include silk and satin. Ivory and white are the longtime favorite color for wedding shoes. Dye or tint your shoes to match your dress as colors may vary from different manufacturers.

Casual

Getting married on the beach or a wildflower meadow? If so, then heels may not be an option for you. Heels sink on sandy beaches and dig in on grass lawns. This may compromise your ability to walk with ease. Choose a shoe that goes best with your dress and fits comfortably.

Casual wedding are usually non-traditional and take many forms. They may be held outdoors or in a civil setting, such as a courthouse or home.

For casual wedding shoes, consider flats, low heels, wedges, sandals, flip flops, sneakers or go barefoot.

Materials for casual wedding fashion include everything from natural fabrics to leather.

Make your wedding day special by selecting the elements that make you happiest, from the smallest wedding accessory to the dress.  See more about bridal fashion at your next Great Bridal Expo. Click here for tickets to an upcoming show.
