THANK YOU CARDS:: Handmade Keepsake Thank You Cards

December 21, 2011 at 12:37 am Leave a comment

Show your wedding guests how much you appreciate their gifts and thoughtfulness by giving them handmade keepsake thank you cards that you made yourself.  The rule of thumb for sending thank-you cards is mailing them approximately one month after you have returned from your honeymoon. Creating your own note cards not only saves money but is a creative expression of who you are and adds an unparalleled personal touch.

Before starting, gather all the material needed for your keepsake Thank You cards project. All items are available at your nearest MICHAELS store.

Follow the instructions below from MICHAELS  for instructions on how to make your own keepsake wedding Thank You cards.

Step:  1

Cut the dark colored metallic card stock to measure 6 ¼” X 9” then fold in half.

Step:  2

Stamp the words “Thank You” using the copper or silver ink onto the card stock in colors from your wedding. Use scissors or a craft knife to cut out each letter individually.

Step:  3

Cut squares from the dark metallic card stock slightly larger than your letters for “Thank You” to create a framing effect around the alphabet letters and affix with craft glue. Set aside for later.

Step:  4

Measure and cut the Decorative Colored Paper to 5 3/4” X 3 3/4”.

Step:  5

Use craft glue to affix to the dark metallic card stock.

Step:  6

Cut 3/4”x 5-3/4” strip of the gold or silver paper

Step:  7

Lay strip of gold or silver paper on bottom of card and adhere with craft glue.

Step:  8

Tear a corner of the scroll paper and glue to the top right corner of the card.

Step:  9

Cut a 1/2” X 5 3/4” strip of scroll paper. Use the ink to stamp a design from the ornamental alphabet stamp set. Affix atop the gold/silver strip.

Step:  10

Take two of the decorative leaves and adhere them with craft glue to the lower bottom left area on the card.

Step: 11

Glue the “Thank You” letters in place across the top of the card.

Step: 12

Allow card to dry and place in standard-sized envelopes. Throw in a handful of stars for a personal touch.

Tips

For multiple cards prepare all materials in advance.

Try pressed flowers or butterflies instead of leaves.

For best ink results use Color Box Pigment Inks from MICHAELS . Cut a strip of ribbon for the bottom of the card instead of using gold/silver paper.

Use standard sized envelopes.
