Bridal Shower Game Ideas

Bring more game to your next shower than tea and quaint cakes by going with the tried-and-true secrets of expert bridal shower planners. Some maids-of-honor and bridesmaids make throwing a bridal shower appear effortless from every detail such as decorations to fun activities when in fact it requires much planning and organization. Create a cheery atmosphere to keep the guests mingling and laughing by playing bridal shower games. Read on for a look at a few old and new bridal shower games ideas.

Wedding Dress Game

Here comes the bride, dressed in toilet paper? This classic bridal shower game is a team challenge. Divide the bridal shower group into teams of 3-5 people and give each team several rolls of toilet paper. Next, each team chooses a ‘bride’ and creates an ‘original’ bridal gown using the toilet paper during a predetermined period of time. After time is up for creating fashions, award prizes for best and funniest dresses.

Almost Newlyweds

Interview the groom before the bridal shower by asking whimsical questions about the soon-to-be wed couple’s knowledge of each other. Use your smartphone to video and record his answers to play at the bridal shower. Ask about a dozen or so questions including multiple choice questions, fill-in-the-blank and memory lane questions. Start the game by asking the bride-to-be the same questions and see if she matches the groom’s video response. Add an element of whimsy and have the bride place a funny sticker on her face for each answer she gets wrong.

Handbag Treasure Hunt

Longtime favorite at bridal showers is the purse treasure hunt; a scavenger hunt using handbags. The only materials needed to play this game are handbags and a list consisting of about 20-30 items to search for such as grocery receipts, pink lipstick, nail file, sunglasses, ticket stubs, tweezers, gum and tampons. Have each party guest go through her purse matching the items on the list. Give a prize to the one who has the most matching items and offer bonus prizes for things like the person with the most embarrassing or sentimental item.

Win the Centerpiece

Bridal showers often feature beautiful centerpieces at each table. Give your bridal shower guests a chance to take home one of the tabletop floral arrangements by playing win the centerpiece. This easy-to-play game is similar to musical chairs. Music is played as an object such as a napkin or dollar bill is passed around person to person at each table, when the music stops whoever is holding the object wins the centerpiece. Play this game with a twist, pass around a wrapped gift and give the winner an option of keeping the unopened present or taking home the centerpiece.
