blog picTake charge of your health and get fit for your wedding. As the groom, you want to look the best you can on your wedding day and this may require some proactive steps on your part to achieve the results you desire. Do not expect overnight miracles; make a plan and allow six months to a year to get in shape. Read on for tips for getting fit for grooms.

Nutrition

Evaluate your diet and create a healthy eating plan. Practice portion control, do your best to resist temptations such as second servings of pasta or triple scoops of ice cream. Instead practice making healthy foods choices as a regular part of your lifestyle. Choose grilled or baked foods over deep-fried items. Rediscover how great fresh or steamed veggies taste. Consult with a doctor before beginning any new weight loss plan. If necessary, complement your diet with proper supplements and nutrients.

Training

To get fit for your wedding, you will need a mix of cardiovascular exercise and weight training. Cardio means choosing an activity that raises your heart rate. It can be as simple as walking or treadmill running or demanding as training for a marathon and practicing parkour.

Include weightlifting or resistance training into your workout routine. The benefits of weight training include boosting your metabolism, achieving defined and toned muscle mass, improving overall agility and better balance.

Rest

Include plenty of rest on your wedding fitness plan. Sleep is important because this is when the body takes the time to repair muscles and help regulate your stress levels. Ensure that your sleeping area is conducive to relaxation, slumber on a comfortable bed, dim the lights, adjust the thermostat to a comfortable and cool temperature and create a quiet environment by eliminating extraneous noise or wearing earplugs.

Keep Hydrated

Drink lots of water during the day, especially during exercise. The benefits of staying hydrated include quenching thirst, temperature regulation, joint lubrication and helps to control bodily functions. Avoid dehydration, a main cause of heat stroke, muscle cramps and heat exhaustion. Symptoms of dehydration may include extreme thirst, dry mouth, dizziness, fatigue, nausea and excessive sweating. The Mayo Clinic recommends men drink a minimum of three liters of water a day.

Stay Motivated

Optimize your chances for wedding fitness success by employing inspiring tactics to stay motivated. Start by setting goals; be sure that they are realistic and achievable. Types of fitness goals may include losing fat, building muscle mass, losing or gaining weight, better muscle tone, increase strength or a combination of these goals. Make long term and short term goals. Keep your workouts on a regular schedule, this helps with creating a routine.
