blog picGetting married in Las Vegas is no longer constrained by those old stereotypes of drive-through elopements or having the King preside over your nuptials. Las Vegas attracts a much broader range of couples and offers a variety of venues from grand elegant hotel affairs to small intimate ceremonies and of course, not to forget the plethora of cheesy wedding chapels. Before marrying in Nevada, there are certain legal requirements a couple must comply with before exchanging vows. Read on to learn how to get married in Vegas.

Pick a Venue

Decide on where you want to get married first, especially if you plan to get married during a holiday such as Valentine’s Day, Christmas or New Year’s. Reservations go fast at top-rated venues. If you intend to invite guests, selecting a venue in advance helps your guest with getting time off and the better reservations rates for accommodations and airfares.

Popular places to get married in Las Vegas include Chapel of the Flowers, the Scenic Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, A Storybook Wedding Chapel, Wee Kirk O’ the Heather Wedding Chapel, the Elvis Chapel, Bellagio Wedding Chapels and the Tropicana Island Wedding Chapel.

Las Vegas offers many choices for wedding venues; inquire about packages as you search for your perfect place.

Get a Marriage License

Obtain a marriage license, all couples desiring to marry in Las Vegas must get one from the Clark County clerk’s office. To attain a license each of you must present a valid picture ID such as a driver’s license, passport or military ID. Expect to provide your social security number.

Nevada does not have a residency requirement; nor is a blood test required. Couples must be 18 years of age or over to marry. If previously married, your divorce must be final. Be prepared to provide the date, month, year and location of any previous marriages.

In addition, you will also be asked to supply information about your parents including their names, state and country of birth.

Expect to pay a small fee and bring cash.

There is no waiting period; you may get married the same day you receive your license. They are valid for up to one year after issuance.

To save time filling out forms, a pre-application may be downloaded from the marriage licenses section of the Clark County website.

Go on a Honeymoon

After exchanging vows, go on your honeymoon and celebrate the start of your new life together. Vegas offers newlyweds endless choices of destination hotels such as the Venetian, the Bellagio, the Mandarin Oriental, The Four Seasons and The Palazzo. Things to do in Vegas include casinos, dining, shopping, shows and performances.
