Treasure the memories of your wedding day with a scrapbook, a type of decorated photo album documenting your major life events. There are many benefits to scrapbooking: years from now, on your wedding anniversary you will open the album and reminiscence of this special time or you might pass it on to the next generation as a family heirloom. Marrying your beloved is an experience you will never forget. Read on for information about how to make a wedding scrapbook.

Things You Will Need

The basic materials needed to create a wedding scrapbook include: the album, sheet protectors, scissors, ruler, adhesives, paper, writing instruments, and memorabilia from your wedding and wedding photos.

Make a Plan

Before you begin, take the time to brainstorm, gather ideas and make a plan. For inspiration, search for wedding albums on Pinterest or visit a scrapbook store. Define the parameters of your wedding scrapbook by choosing a starting point. Do you want to feature only events from the day of your wedding or do you want to start from the day you first met?

Select an Album

Scrapbook albums come in many different sizes and shapes. There are three main types of albums: the three-ring binder, top-insert page post-bound album and non-removable page bound album. The most common sizes are 8.5” x 11” and 12” x 12”. If you choose one of these sizes you are more likely to find coordinating background papers and matching materials. In addition, you will need to consider how many pages your album can hold.

Choose a Design

Some couples decide to go with the colors or theme of their wedding. Consider the location of your wedding when choosing a design. For example, if you got married on a boat you might want to choose a nautical theme. Remember, your scrapbook must stand the test of time.

Decide on Paper

Paper selection is all about personal preferences. Picking paper for your wedding album is no easy task due to the tremendous amount of choices; choose the one that appeals to you most. Popular scrapbook paper types include cardstock, die-cut paper, patterned paper, vellum and transparency paper. To save money, buy scrapbook paper in prepackaged packs.

Tell Your Story

Decide on the best way to express your wedding story. Arrange the events in chronological order. Include things such as your life before marriage, how you met, your wedding proposal, wedding planning, gown shopping, wedding shower, rehearsal dinner, before ceremony moments, the ceremony, reception and honeymoon. Choose photos and memorabilia that complement your story.
