Discover an amazing array of diverse cultures and spectacular environments as you begin your life together on your honeymoon. Read on for a brief overview of some favorite honeymoon destinations of Africa.

Located in the Indian Ocean close to Madagascar, the pristine beaches of the Seychelles were the honeymoon choice of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Comprised of 115 exotic islands surrounded by clear blue waters and soft white sand, the Seychelles offers a honeymoon paradise for couples. Things to do and see include snorkeling on Praslin Island, surfing on Intendance Beach and watching the sunset on Mahe. The best time to go is May through September when the weather is drier, unlike monsoon season which occurs November thru March.

Step back in time and embark on a romantic honeymoon to Marrakech, Morocco, located in North Africa. Marrakech offers a unique spicy blend of ancient architecture, emblematic culture and modern attributes. Things to do include exploring the architectural delights of the Ali Ben Youssef Madrasa, Saharan camel trekking, shopping the bazaars and souks, attending belly dancer and fire eater shows enjoying local diffa fare or visiting the Majorelle Gardens. If you are feeling adventurous, take the train to Casablanca. Best time for a honeymoon is May through early October.

Masai Mara

Go on a honeymoon safari and experience the wonders of the Masai Mara National Reserve, about a 4 – 5 hour drive from Nairobi, Kenya. The primary reason to book a safari in the Mara is to encounter the Great Migration, an event consisting of millions of wildebeests and other animals moving across the land from the Serengeti as cheetahs and hyenas stalk. Honeymoon during Toto Time, the birthing season when young animals abound. Change your viewpoint, ride in a hot air balloon or gallop with zebras from horseback. The best time to visit for the annual migration is July through October.

Victoria Falls

Immerse yourself in each other’s love near the beauty of the magnificent waterfalls of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Located along the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls is over a mile long and considered one of the largest waterfalls in the world. Paddle in sync on a romantic canoe safari to view elephants, hippos or crocodiles. For an extreme experience, go on white-water rafting adventure. The best time to visit is January through April, after the summer rains when the falls are at their fullest capacity.
