blog picPlanning a wedding involves many details including basics such as where the guests are going to sit during your ceremony and reception. Considered an important wedding essential, renting tables and chairs is not always an easy task. There are some things you should note about renting tables and chairs for your wedding that you may have not considered beforehand. Read on to learn more about renting chairs and tables for your wedding.

Determine Your Seating Needs

Reserve enough chairs for your wedding as soon as possible. Generally, the rule of thumb is you want to have one chair for every guest. It is easier to reduce the number of chairs, than adding, but it does not hurt to ask if adding more chairs would be an issue. Confirming the number of RSVPs will help with the guest count.

Another factor to consider is the length of the wedding. It is not always easy to know exactly how many people will show up. If too many guests show up for a short ceremony of about five to twenty minutes you may want to allow the extras to watch while standing from the sides or the back. However, for longer ceremonies such as 30 to 60 minutes, it is preferable to have every one seated and ordering extra chairs might be a considerate forethought.

About Wedding Reception Tables

Most reception tables come in round or rectangular shapes. Sizes range from small bistro tables accommodating 3-4 people to large 8-foot long banquet tables seating up to eight guests. Not sure how many tables you need to rent for your wedding reception? Divide the number of guests by the number of guests you would like seated at a table to determine the number of tables you will need for your reception. Consider ordering extra tables for your guestbook, cocktail hour drinks, dessert bars, DJ or gift table.

Research Before Committing

Go online and get ideas for the types of chairs and tables you would like to rent for your wedding. Chairs and tables come in a wide assortment of styles, shapes and sizes. Find the ones that best match your wedding decor. Locate a local event rental business and go visit their shop to examine the chairs and tables to determine if they are a fit for your venue, wedding colors and overall theme. Take the time to try out the chairs by sitting in them and assessing the comfort level. Types of chairs range from wooden folding chairs to full-arm plush chairs.

When to Reserve

It is recommended to reserve tables and chairs for your wedding approximately 6 -8 months in advance of your wedding. In most instances you will be required to put down a deposit and sign a contract.
