Eye Care

The skin surrounding your eyes is often very delicate; create a skin maintenance plan many weeks in advance of your wedding. Your routine may include gentle cleansers, moisturizer, creams, serums and gels made specifically for the eye. If desired, make an appointment with an aesthetician or consult with a dermatologist for professional assistance in creating a care routine for your eyes. Eat a balanced diet and get plenty of exercise to help ensure you are at your peak of physical healthiness for your big day. Avoid dark circles and puffiness; get plenty of sleep the night before your wedding.

Eye Prep and Shadow

Before applying eye shadow, prep your eyes with concealer, a type of makeup intended to camouflage under eye circles and any slight skin discolorations. Next, apply eye primer; this will help your eye shadow stay put as weddings last for many hours. Apply your eye shadow atop the primer using a makeup brush for blending. Eye shadow comes in many colors and types such as matte, glitter, powder, cream and gel. Choose colors that best match your skin type and attire.

Depending on your personal style, liner may be applied with a soft light touch or go for a smudgy dramatic smoky eye look. Liner may be applied to the outside and inside of the lid.

Emotions often run high on your wedding day and regular mascara may run down your face if you should cry, take preventative measures by using waterproof mascara. Choose popular colors such as black or brown. Many makeup professionals recommend two coats of mascara for the best look.
